Application ofg-PGA in agriculture
Gamma-poly-glutamic acid (g-PGA), is a polymer of the amino acid glutamic acid (GA). It is a major constituent of the Japanese food natto, and can be produced by bacterial fermentation.
PGA is a water-soluble, water binding, and biodegradable, natural bio-macromolecular material which is non-toxic towards humans and the environment.
PGA can be used as a fertilizer by dilution of its microbial fermentation solutions, which contain free PGA, amino acids, sugars as well as minerals, and can be safely applied directly to crops.
The basic principles for improving soil quality, increasing crop yields and quality are as follows.
Firstly, improvement of the chemical composition of the soil:

Thirdly, enrichment of nutrients, and improving the effectiveness of fertilizers.
